Arrest RDCs and other executive branch officers that interfere with the execution of Court orders in Uganda

In Uganda Court Bailiffs Association Ltd v Attorney General, Constitutional Petition 1 of 2023), the court declared that it is unconstitutional for executive officials (including Police, Resident District Commissioners, and DISOs) to subject valid judicial warrants to extra-judicial clearance or vetoes before permitting enforcement.

This means that any interference by executive officials (including Police, Resident District Commissioners, and DISOs) in the execution of Court orders is unlawful and criminal. The court should issue arrest warrants to for anyone holding such offices who attempts to interfere with the execution of Court orders to create deterrence and discourage this unlawful conduct.
