When Ugandans finally stop tolerating and glorifying that corruption we shall eliminate corruption in Uganda
The public in tolerates and glorifies corruption and by doing this, the public encourages and promotes the very vice that is keeping Ugandans in poverty. Ugandans praise the thieves for being cunning and hardworking yet the thieves are not really hardworking or cunning. The thieves are actually just stealing public resources and enriching themselves at the expense of the Public.
In Uganda, the poor are always seeking the favour of the thieves and struggling for the table scraps of those that steal from them. The problem is that many Ugandans were born and raised in a broken system characterised with poor service delivery, insecurity, corruption and brutality. They have never experienced a system that is effecient and tailored to serve the Public good. Ugandan are content with midoicre or substandard service delivery because they have never experienced the alternative. They have not tasted excellent and efficient public service delivery. They have not tasted a corruption free Public service. As a result, they are stuck in a corrupt system yet they have the power to impose a better system that serves their interests.
When finally Ugandans stop glorifying and tolerating corruption, they will elect accountable leaders and demand that the leaders put in place safe guards against corruption. They will demand that the government should effectively combat and prevent corruption. They will get rid of leaders that facilitate corruption and eliminate public officers who engage in corruption. It might take decades to reach this great moment but one day it shall come to pass. On that great day we shall kick corruption out of Uganda.
